Electrical System Design

From Power Requirements to Engineered Systems

Electrical engineering is a core capability of ABOSOFT TECHNOLOGY LIMITED. Our work begins with understanding the facility, loads, operating requirements and interfaces, then developing an electrical system that is practical, coordinated and suitable for the project environment.

Our electrical design capability complements our instrumentation and control expertise, allowing electrical, automation and process requirements to be considered together rather than as isolated disciplines.

  • ✓ Electrical system design
  • ✓ Single-line diagrams
  • ✓ Circuit layouts and panel schedules
  • ✓ Power distribution design
  • ✓ Equipment and load documentation
  • ✓ Installation support and technical supervision
Power Distribution & Single-Line Diagrams

Make the Power Network Easy to Understand

Single-line diagrams provide the electrical roadmap of a facility. We develop electrical distribution concepts and drawings that show sources, transformers, switchboards, distribution boards, feeders, major loads and the relationships between electrical equipment.

The final arrangement is developed from the project load information, supply characteristics, equipment data, operating philosophy and applicable client requirements.

  • ✓ Electrical single-line diagrams
  • ✓ MV/LV distribution concepts
  • ✓ Transformer and switchgear interfaces
  • ✓ Main and sub-distribution arrangements
  • ✓ Feeder and major-load representation
  • ✓ Electrical equipment schedules

Load Assessment & Electrical Studies

Size the System Around the Real Load

Electrical design decisions depend on credible load information. We organise and evaluate connected and operating loads to establish the design basis for distribution equipment, feeders and generation requirements.

Where the project stage and available data require formal studies, the engineering workflow can incorporate load-flow, voltage-drop, short-circuit, motor-starting, protection and related assessments. Final study inputs and equipment ratings remain subject to approved vendor data and project-specific requirements.

  • ✓ Connected and operating load schedules
  • ✓ Demand and diversity considerations
  • ✓ Load summary development
  • ✓ Voltage-drop assessment
  • ✓ Short-circuit study inputs
  • ✓ Motor-starting study inputs
  • ✓ Power-system study coordination
Switchgear, Panels & Distribution Equipment

Equipment Selected for Safe Distribution

Electrical distribution equipment must match the system duty, environmental conditions, fault level, operating philosophy and maintenance requirements. We support the engineering definition of switchboards, distribution panels and associated electrical equipment.

  • ✓ Switchboard and distribution-panel concepts
  • ✓ Panel schedules and circuit arrangements
  • ✓ Protective-device requirements
  • ✓ Feeder and incomer arrangements
  • ✓ Equipment interface documentation
  • ✓ Installation and commissioning support

Connect, Protect and Distribute

Electrical systems are only as dependable as the infrastructure connecting the equipment. We develop design information for cable distribution, equipment connections, earthing and protective arrangements, coordinated with the overall electrical system.

  • ✓ Cable routing and distribution concepts
  • ✓ Cable schedules and termination information
  • ✓ Earthing and bonding design considerations
  • ✓ Electrical equipment connection details
  • ✓ Lighting and small-power concepts
  • ✓ Installation support and technical supervision

For low-voltage installations, applicable requirements for protective conductors, earthing and bonding are established against the project specification and relevant standards.

Power Generation & Essential Systems

Power Availability for Critical Operations

Industrial facilities often require multiple sources of electrical power and defined priorities for essential and emergency loads. Our electrical engineering approach can address generation, distribution, standby power and the interfaces required for reliable operation.

  • ✓ Generator and utility interface concepts
  • ✓ Essential and emergency load identification
  • ✓ Standby power distribution
  • ✓ Synchronisation and operating philosophy inputs
  • ✓ Load-shedding and priority-load considerations
  • ✓ Black-start and islanding philosophy inputs where required

Electrical Engineering That Works with the Whole Plant

ABOSOFT's multidisciplinary capability is particularly valuable on industrial projects where electrical systems, instrumentation, control systems and process equipment must interface correctly.

Our engineers can coordinate electrical requirements with instrumentation and control documentation, helping reduce interface gaps between disciplines during design and implementation.

  • ✓ Electrical/instrumentation interface coordination
  • ✓ Control-panel and electrical-panel interfaces
  • ✓ Motor and driven-equipment interfaces
  • ✓ Power supply requirements for control systems
  • ✓ Coordination with process and mechanical disciplines
  • ✓ Integrated engineering documentation

Standards & Good Engineering Practice

Engineering Against the Applicable Requirements

Electrical designs are developed against the applicable project specifications, statutory requirements, client standards and recognised engineering standards. The exact standard set depends on the installation, voltage level, equipment and project jurisdiction.

For example, the IEC 61439 series addresses low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies, including construction, technical characteristics and verification requirements. IEC 60364-5-54 addresses earthing arrangements and protective conductors, while IEC 60364-4-43 addresses protection against overcurrent.
